700R4 Speedometer Gear Installation 1. Remove drive shaft, Cross member, transmission mount and speedometer cable from transmission. 2. Remove tail housing by removing four Metric 15mm tail housing bolts. (Caution fluid will leak out once tail housing is removed. 3. Remove Existing speedometer drive gear by simultaneously holding the retaining clip downward (towards the center of the shaft) while using a suitable tool to push the Drive Gear towards the rear of the transmission. 4. Clean and inspect all parts to be reused for damage specifically the retaining clip. 5. Install retaining clip in the last rear hole of the tail shaft with the clip facing the rear while pressing on the new speedometer drive gear carefully aligning the notch of the drive gear to the retaining clip. 6. Press drive gear on just until the clip seats on the rear side of the drive gear 7. Reinstall tail housing with new seal, install and torque the four 15mm retaining bolts to 26 FT LBS 8. Reinstall Speedo Driven Gear in to housing with new seals on the inner and outer part of driven gear housing, carefully aligning the Y retaining bracket with the notches on the driven gear housing and bolt hole on the tail housing. 9. Reinstall the transmission mount, cross member, speedometer cable and drive shaft.
